Well, most everyone knows of our bit of bad luck on Monday driving from Niagara down to Watkins Glen. Just 8 miles from our campground for the next four days, we lost a wheel on a little trailer. The whole wheel - sheared off.

So, our day was a bit stressful and tiring. Once we got to our campsite and tackled some of the issues at hand, thanks in huge part to our neighbor, Garret, we decided to just drive around the area to get a feel for what was in the area. We managed to get a few photos in from our visit to Taughannock Falls and Ithaca.

In looking back on those photos, you can see the strain and stress from that day in our eyes and expressions. Whew. That was a rough one.

But, we are sure excited about the possibilities for adventure that lie ahead in Watkins Glen!!

This was our fourth visit to Niagara Falls, and each visit is special and different in its own way. This visit was our longest in the park to date! We explored areas we honestly didn’t know existed. Why did we just now discover Terrapin Point?! It is spectacular!

We also visited The Three Sisters islands for the first time. We were able to spend an entire day and stay into the night. We had our second Maid of The Mist boat tour on this trip, and it was SO much fun! Honestly, I can’t believe they can take a boat filled with people SO close to the falls! If you have never done it, put it on your to-do list! It is unlike anything else you will ever do.

We started the day with a visit to Erie’s (PA) Bicentennial Tower before heading out to Niagara. We stopped along the Lake Erie coastline in NY briefly at the Barcelona Lighthouse. This nearly 200-year-old structure is undergoing some renovation work to restore the original wooden staircase.

The rain held off until after the light show. We saw the light show from the Canada side a few years ago, and this time saw it from the US side. Both ways are special and beautiful in their own way.

Our Monday takes us to Watkins Glen, NY - the heart of the Fingerlake Region.

Our Saturday in Erie, PA!

After starting the day with fresh cinnamon mini-donuts, we made the trek from north of Columbus, OH up to Erie. ☺️

Erie is a great coastal city! We explored a bit and journeyed to the three lighthouses around the city, Presque Isle, Land Light and North Pier Light. The Land Light is the oldest lighthouse on any of the Great Lakes. Presque Isle Lighthouse was in beautiful Presque Isle State Park, which explored a bit as well! Presque Isle is known as the Jewel of Lake Erie. 😁 We finished the day with a sunset dinner that Jeff made on his new portable Blackstone - tuna patties and fried zucchini.

Our Sunday, we venture to Niagara Falls!
