Today, in 1945, WWII officially ended. The most devastating war in history was finally over.

This weekend we get to participate in honoring the veterans of WWII at the Indiana Military Museum in Vincennes, IN.

We explored this wonderful gem of a museum when we were last in Vincennes performing at the Red Skelton Gala in May. This museum is an absolute treasure just busting at the seams with history, artifacts, military vehicles, uniforms, photos, bunkers and trenches for live re-enactments and more! It’s an incredible collection of military history unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.

The curator, Jim Osborne, has done a phenomenal job of collecting, displaying and researching the thousands upon thousands of items in this museum. The amount of planes, tanks, canons, big guns, helicopters and....even a submarine, is overwhelming!

In May, we actually got a personal tour by the curator himself, and it was fascinating to hear about the efforts he has gone to to secure some of these items on display. And again, everything is SO well done and the displays are, in some cases, a work of art! I know I am using a lot of !!!! but this museum deserves them. (!)

We spent three hours there during our last visit and could have spent another six, had we not had to get home. If you go, plan several hours. In addition to two large buildings that are home to thousands of items from the Civil War to the Gulf War, there is also a WW2 German bunker and a field of trenches where they have re-enactments. The museum is also home to several one-of-a-kind military items that you won’t see anywhere else. Honestly, this museum needs to be featured on the History Channel.

Mr Osborne should be honored for his dedication and work on this museum. It’s just amazing.

As part of the festivities this weekend, Jeff and I will be performing during the 13th Annual Salute to Veterans of World War II. We’ll be performing our new musical tribute show “The Music That Helped Win The War”. It features 24 songs from 1939-1945. Performances on both Saturday and Sunday at 11 am and 1:30 pm.

We had such a ball last night playing at the West Boggs Park. The rain stayed away and we had a beautiful summer evening playing some

rockin’ tunes in Logootee, IN. Thank you West Boggs and Black Light Entertainment for having Rosie & the Rockabillies come play! Added bonus, I love snow cones and there was a stellar snow cone tent with endless combinations so this gal was a super happy camper last night to finally have a snow cone on a hot summer night!

One of our entertainment features of Our Technicolor Life is our 6-piece Rockabilly band, Rosie & the Rockabillies! We play a some of our favorites, Elvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny Cash, and also cover some newer rockabilly styles a la Stray Cats, Imelda May, and even a few 60s and 70s tunes with a Rosie retro twist!

We’ll be at Stevie Ray’s Blues Bar in downtown Lousiville, KY this coming Friday night August 27th 8-12pm. Check out Rosie & the Rockabillies on Facebook or under our entertainment channel on our website www.ourtechnicolorlife.com for more band information & booking!

This past weekend was the culmination of a dream for Carrie that was two years in the making, as she appeared in the lead role of the Louisville production of Grey Gardens The Musical. She audioned for her dream role of Edith/Little Edie Beale in August of 2019. She got the call that she was cast for that role just a few days later. She was told the production would be in April 2020. She worked memorizing and studying the characters she was to portray immediately. It was not difficult, because she knows the story of the Beales of Grey Gardens like it is her job. She is a bit obsessed with them.

They were two weeks away from opening when the world shut down. They cancelled the show and we’re not sure if or when they might be able to reschedule.

She was crushed.

Earlier this spring, when things began to loosen and relax she was advised the show was to be re-staged in August. Fast forward to last Thursday night when she stepped out on stage and brought to life, as only she could, the characters of Edith Beale (1st Act) and adult Little Edie Beal (2nd Act).

I admire and love her with every bit of my heart, and this past weekend she won the hearts of hundreds of others as she commanded the stage and gave a performance that brought people to tears and then to their feet. It was magical.

If you love someone, you celebrate in their victories and you die a little in their pain. This past weekend, watching her receive the love and admiration that she at one time had almost given up on was so gratifying.

She deserved every bit of it. ❤️
