We've heard a lot of feedback about wanting more music so we've come up with Gazebo Concerts! These will be ticketed events to allow for accurate seating and will be in the tea garden, weather permitting, or indoors in case of in climate weather. This is not a tea party but there will be light refreshments and lots of great love music.

Blast From the Past combines the best of the best of the oldies 50s, 60s, and 70s.

These Gazebo Concerts will be approximately an hour long of live music, Jeff on keyboard, and myself of vocals. Feel free to dress up in theme if you would like or just come to enjoy a fun evening of live entertainment and light refreshments in our tea garden, weather permitting. In case of inclimate weather or excessive heat, we'll be inside the tea room.

So mark your calendars and grab your friends!

Mardi Gras

Our first Mardi Gras!!!

AND, it will not be our last!

We live by the motto that there is no need putting off tomorrow what you can do today. So, we decided that we have talked about Mardi Gras long enough, it was time do it!!

The city of New Orleans was in full canival mode and we totally embraced it! There were a total of 24 parades scheduled from Friday through Sunday and we did our best to make as many as possible. Due to logistics and schedules, we could only catch 11. We probably walked a total of 15 miles over the weekend, caught SO many beads and special “throws”, and made our mark on The Big Easy!

Our AirBnB host crowned us “honorary New Orleanians” and was very impressed with our booty that we collected over the weekend.

We were both wondering why we had waited so long to make it to Mardi Gras. And, we agreed that it may have to become a yearly ritual.

Laissez le bon temps rouler!!

A Day Trip to Rose Island

We returned to Rose Island to enjoy the beautiful fall weather and revisit this once-vibrant amusement park on the banks of the Ohio River. The ghost-park is now a part of Charlestown State Park, just north of Charlestown, IN.

My first visit to Rose Island a few years ago led me to doing research about the park, which in turn led to my book project “Lost Amusement Parks of Kentuckiana”. It’s not a novel by any means, but it was certainly a labor of love researching photo archives and history on the various parks in the Kentuckiana area. The book was published through the Images of America book series.

I learned a lot about the many parks that were once vibrant social destinations for many in the 1920s through 1950s. Rose Island became a favorite park during my research for the book. The images of fashionable ladies and well-dressed gentlemen that made the ferry ride to Rose Island from Louisville were just fabulous! And, as you walk the grounds of this forgotten park, you can almost feel the life and joy that once resonated here.

I have always said, if there was such a thing as a time machine, I would certainly take it back to the 1920s. And, that is what Rose Island is for me, I guess, a bit of a time machine.

Oh, and should you be interested in checking out my book, you can pick it up on Amazon and at Target. Or, I actually still have a few personalized autographed copies for sale as well.

Dare To Do It Tour

What a special and exciting visit to Atlanta!

We drove down on Friday to catch the Atlanta stop for Angel & Dick Strawbridge’s Dare To Do It Tour!!

We have been “Escape to the Chateau” fans since the show started in 2015. Angel and Dick almost feel like family - even though we had never met. Perhaps they just seemed SO familiar to us, because we have so much in common. The similarities between them and us are a bit uncanny.

I first fell in love with Angel when she was still in England running her Vintage Patisserie business. She sparked my desire to start my own tea room. Her creativity and love of the vintage aesthetic were two obvious traits we shared. I bought her book “The Vintage Tea Party” and found even more common ground. It was motivation for me to start my own tea room. Her husband,Dick, and Jeff are also very similar. They are both so adept at tackling both huge and small build projects. They are also very close to the same age, with Angel and I close as well. They have been married for just under ten years. We have been married for just over ten.

I could point out several other similarities, but the fact is they feel so very familiar, so meeting them for the first time was just magical. It was like meeting a sister that only in recent years discovered that I had.

If you are not familiar with their series “Escape to the Chateau”, I highly encourage you to check it out. It is lovely, creative, fun, and highly entertaining. I could talk at length about how much their show has meant to me. Jeff and I are getting ready to rewatch the entire series again, since the show has just recently ended.

Thank you Angel and Dick for being so warm, welcoming and kind to us and ALL of your fans who showed up in Atlanta! It was magical!

The Chicken Coop Theatre Fundraiser

I made her return to stage in a fundraiser for The Chicken Coop Theatre Company as Little Edie, whom I portrayed in the company’s production of Grey Gardens: The Musical (2021). Little Edie - singing Queen, I must say I quite enjoyed that combination.

The fundraiser theme was a ‘70s Rewind! It was a fun evening filled with a lot of great teen year memories for me. Thank you Chicken Coop for letting me relive some wonderful years and wonderful music!

Kentucky Derby Musuem 150th Derby Fashion Exhibit

It’s official! Jeff & I are a part of the 150 years of Derby Fashion at the Kentucky Derby Museum! This is a brand new exhibit coming to the museum this spring! I dropped our outfits off this month and also spotted a familiar face on the wall.

A Valentine's Day at Home

We decided to start a new tradition by dining at home for our Valentine's Day date. By re-arranging a few of our tea tables and moving some plants and decor, I transformed our foyer into a magical dinner spot just for two. It's no secret I love to transition everyday items and spaces into a magical atmosphere and for our Valentine's evening at home, this was just perfect. We made a fondue dinner for two, well maybe for a little more than two but anyway, it in now a new tradition plus I could make the decor and music to my liking. Extra bonus, I finally had an excuse to wear my Grace Kelly replica dress.

Our Technicolor Life Podcast

One thing we get asked a lot is why don't you guys have your own show? Well as much as we would love that, it has yet to happen or maybe the right person hasn't seen us yet so in the meantime, we decided to start a podcast! You can now listen to us every Tuesday chatting about the goings on of Our Technicolor Life. We talk tea, travel, entertainment, art, and upcoming events. We also answer questions you ask us! Drop us a question on our podcast page. You can listen to each episode on our podcast channel and if you have an Apple phone, you can now find us on Apple Podcast, just look for Our Technicolor Life.

Where the Wild Things Are Mural

I’ve been putting those mural vibes out into the cosmos these past few months and it must’ve worked!

This is the latest mural project I completed for the Arts Alliance of Southern Indiana and it’s in the new children’s area at the Hope Food Pantry in New Albany!

Coming up is a Beauty and the Beast theme, a gorgeous floral and vine design for a garage, and a baseball dug out project for the Floyd County Little League!

Word of mouth has been the best advertising! If you have a mural idea, just email at with your idea, location, and any details about the project.

Kentucky Derby Hats

As crazy as it sounds, we are less than 100 days away from the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby so that means its hat time. I've been creating fascinators and (REALLY) big hats just for the occasion. If you are looking for a fun hand made creation made by yours truly, I have my hats available for sale on Etsy.
