Savannah Getaway

Some of our Friday fun in Savannah.

I’m pretty sure I have walked over ten miles in this city thus far. 😁

After breakfast at the Eliza Thompson house we've been taking strolls around Forsyth Park. It's such a beautiful park for scenery and people watching. Savannah is a walking city so take your time and enjoy the views with 21 squares to explore, you can see something different every time.

My favorite Street for seeing beautiful squares is along Bull Street. It is the center of the historic district and has some of my favorite stops along the way. I'm a huge book lover so no stop to Savannah is complete without stopping in E Shaver Bookseller and The Book Lady. I could spend hours in the wonderfully cozy nooks and crannies of these two bookstores looking for my next read. Combine a bookstore stop with a visit to Gallery Espresso and I'm a happy camper. Gallery Espresso is a great spot on Bull just off of gorgeous Chippewa Square where you can grab some coffee, sandwich, desserts, and even a glass of wine. Perfect for people watching, doing some work, reading, and checking out some local artwork on the walls by SCAD students.

We walked down to City Market and along the River Walk and then found ourselves stopping in to see the beautiful and historic Cathedral of St John The Baptist. We have taken many a photo of the exterior of this ornate church on previous visits, but have never had a chance to tour the inside, until this day. What a beautiful House of God.
