Welcome to Our Technicolor Life Monthly Newsletter!

Welcome back to another exciting edition of Our Technicolor Life's monthly newsletter! We're thrilled to have you join us on our colorful journey through the many facets of our adventurous lives. As always, we're Jeff and Carrie Ketterman, a dynamic husband and wife duo who are passionate about embracing a vintage lifestyle in the most vibrant way possible.

A Glimpse into Our Lives

In case you're new here, let us introduce ourselves once again. Jeff spends his days immersed in the bustling world of rail transportation as the General Manager at Kasgro Rail Corporation Management Division. With a fleet of over 500 heavy-duty railcars, Jeff is at the forefront of providing innovative solutions for the ever-evolving rail industry.

Meanwhile, Carrie's days are filled with creativity and artistic expression. As a painter, illustrator, and author, she breathes life into murals and paintings that tell stories with every brushstroke. She is also owner and hostess with the mostest at her tea room, The Old Capitol Tea Room in historic downtown Corydon, IN. Being musically inclined, Carrie and Jeff also have two vintage bands, The Tin Pan Alley Cats and Rosie & the Rockabillies. Follow along each channel of Our Technicolor Life: Tea, Travel, Entertainment, Art, & Lifestyle.

TEA

October is without a doubt our busiest and most thrilling season at The Old Capitol Tea Room! With so many enchanting themes and spine-tingling events, it’s a wonder we manage to fit it all into one month! This year, we’ve conjured up three spellbinding Hocus Pocus teas, brought the underworld to life with Beetlejuice, and hosted a wickedly fun Monster Mash tea hosted by none other than Morticia and Gomez. We also debuted a brand-new Twisted Tales of Poe radio show featuring The Old Capitol Players, alongside the return of fan favorites like Sleepy Hollow and two Dracula radio show teas. Honestly, October should be three months long to fit in all the spooky fun!

TRAVEL

Sycamore Springs

We managed to sneak in one last Fall camping trip with a quick couple of days at Sycamore Springs. We are so lucky to have this gorgeous camping spot right in our own backyard.

Bowman Fest

Bowman Fest is an event that features impressive vintage airplanes, stylish vintage cars, and the opportunity to meet some interesting friends in Louisville. This year marks the 105th anniversary of Bowman Field. Bowman Fest.

Lark Ranch

Experience the enchanting Lark Ranch, a picturesque destination that transforms into the perfect October Saturday festival adventure. With its vibrant pumpkin patches, exciting corn mazes, and delightful hayrides, Lark Ranch offers a festive atmosphere for visitors of all ages. Immerse yourself in the spirit of the season as you explore the various attractions and indulge in delicious seasonal treats. Whether you're seeking family-friendly fun or a romantic outing, Lark Ranch promises a memorable experience filled with autumn charm.

The Turner Classic Movie Cruise and Key West

We are back from our fall adventure on the TCM Classic Cruise and a visit to the Florida Keys, specifically Key West. This year we headed out from Fort Lauderdale and stopped in Cozumel as well as Disney's private island Castaway Cay in the Bahamas. If you are a classic film buff, this cruise is amazing! Four theatres on board, all showing classic movies from early morning until late at night. Seeing these movies on the big screen is quite the treat. The TCM hosts (Ben Mankiewicz, Alicia Malone, Eddie Muller, Jacqueline Stewart, and Dave Karger) were all on board and always very approachable and kind. The guests this year included Haley Mills, Juliet Mills, Rita Moreno, Joe Dante, Buddy Joe Hooker, Shawn Cassidy, and Bruce Goldstein. I was beyond thrilled to meet Haley. If you want a good read, I recommend Hayley's book, "Forever Young." Better yet, listen to the audio book - she narrates it! Just a word about TCM and Disney, who host the cruise each year, they know how to host. If you are a fan of TCM, I highly suggest you consider catching a cruise one year. Next year the cruise is October 8-13 out of Cape Canaveral, FL. The ports of call are Nassau and Disney’s Lookout Cay private island.
